Quanta Firfir is my favorite food next to Kitfo, Qurt, Tibs. I've eaten my share of quanta firfir but saliva is dripping down my mouth as I am writing this post. I DON'T KNOW WHY!
I can’t imagine how I will be, when I write about best Kitfo in Addis Ababa, or Best Qurt in Addis Ababa.
Anyways, What’s the difference between a normal quanta Firfir and great quanta Firfir? For me it boils down to 3 things.
1. Does it have lots of quanta.
2. Is the Quanta real quanta? Meaning has it dried up enough to be stiff or is it soft like like a piece of meat.
3. Does the Firfir taste like Quanta. Meaning, Quanta Firfir isn’t just about Quanta and Firfir. For me, the Firfir has to have the taste of a quanta even if there is no quanta in it. That’s what makes the best quanta.
So here is my list of best quanta Firfir in Addis Ababa (From what I’ve tried). So if any hotel owner isn’t happy with my list, he/she can call me and tell me to try their quanta. :-)
1. RedBean (22 branch in Rebecca Building) – They have closed now but they have branches in Bole and other places. I haven’t tried the bole one, but before they closed, the quanta Firfir was amazing at the 22 branch. It’s a bit expensive but there is lots of quanta, the Firfir tastes like quanta and the food itself is a lot. And the quality was amazing.
2. Yeshi Buna (Bambis)– Expensive Quanta Firfir but enough to knock out two people. The taste is amazing and it’s a lot of quanta. It was a bit too expensive for my taste but I it’s not a price that will make run out of the restaurant.
3. Getish Restaurant (Bambis)– Funny that Yeshi Buna and Getish Restaurant are next to each other but they have an almost 100% difference on the price. Getish quanta Firfir is relatively cheap but the food is not. The food is amazing. Actually Getish Restaurant is becoming my favorite place to eat. The price is very fair and the treatment you get there is very good.
Anyways, if there are places I didn’t mention, please let me know, or why not invite me when you‘re eating!
